Burgers with Fresh Herbs

Ingredients (for burgers)
- 1-pound grass-fed ground beef
- 4 pasture raised bacon strips
- ½ teaspoon ghee or fat of choice
- 2 tablespoons red onions, diced
- 1 tablespoons fresh mint, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh marjoram, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon fresh cayenne, finely chopped (optional)
(for layers)
- 2 thin slices red onions
- 2-4 slices firm-ripe tomato, cored and thinly sliced
- 2 pickles, cut lengthwise in 3 pieces
- 4-6 lettuce leaves
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 pinch sea salt
Preparation
Step 1
In a medium bowl mix ground beef, minced red onion, mint, marjoram, sage, cayenne, and salt
Divide mixture into two portions
Shape each portion into a patty, reserve
Step 2
Heat a medium skillet with ghee over medium heat
Place the burger patties in the hot skillet, cook for 3-4 minutes
Flip the burgers, cook 3-4 minutes
Flip again until is golden brown or, your preferred doneness, reserve
Step 3
While burgers are cooking, in another skillet place the bacon strips
Over low heat cook turning the bacon until browns evenly, 8-10 minutes, reserve
Step 4
In a medium bowl, add olive oil, lemon juice and a pinch of salt, mix well
Season lettuce, sliced onions, tomato, and pickles, reserve
Step 4 (to assemble)
In a plate make a bed with half of the lettuce
Top with half of the sliced tomatoes
Top with half of sliced onions
Top with burger patty
Top with pickles
Finish with half of the bacon strips
Or just add your desired toppings
