The Classic, Simple and Delicious Italian Bolognese Sauce with Fresh Tomatoes and Basil

Serves: 6-8

Preparation Time: 25-30 minutes

Cooking Time: 80-90 minutes

Total Time: 105-120 minutes

Ingredients

- 10 large ripe tomatoes, seeded and peeled - 1-pound grass-fed ground beef

- 2 tablespoons ghee, or fat of choice

- 1 large red onion, chopped

- 10 large garlic cloves, minced

- 10 fresh basil leaves

- 1 teaspoon sea salt

- ¼ tablespoon cayenne, finely chopped

Preparation

Step 1

In a large pot heat ghee over medium heat

Add onions, stir occasionally, sauté until golden, 10-15 minutes

Add garlic, stir occasionally, sauté until golden brown, 5 minutes

Add ground beef, stir occasionally, sauté until brown, 5-10 minutes

Step 2

Meanwhile, place the tomatoes in the food processor

Pulse until smooth or if preferred, dice them

Add tomatoes to the browned ground meat, stir well, bring to a boil

Reduce the heat to low, partially cover pot with the lid, stirring occasionally, simmer for 40-50 minutes

Add cayenne, basil, and sea salt, stir well

Use it in your favorite dish.

Options: Store it up to 7 days in the fridge

Or freeze it up to 3 months
